Rose Mary Jones
Jones averaged more than 40 points per game during three high school seasons at Trent and scored 73 points in a game in 1957 for the Lady Gorillas. She was featured in Newsweek magazine in high school and went on to play for the Wayland Baptist Flying Queens, the nation’s top women’s basketball team in the early 1960s. During her years at Wayland Baptist, the Flying Queens won a national AAU championship in 1961 and finished as national runner-up the following two years.
