State Medalist Receptions

Since moving in to our new museum space in the Mall of Abilene, the Big Country Athletic Hall of Fame has made a point to host celebration receptions when local area high school teams and individuals earn a medal at State competitions. We consider it an honor to be able to recognize schools, teams, athletes, coaches and communities when this milestone is achieved. Below are photos from these events over the years.

Spring 2024 Powerlifting State Medalists Reception

April 7, 2024

We were honored to celebrate several Big Country powerlifters who earned medals at the Boys and Girls 2023-24 State Powerlifting Meets. As a whole, Big Country high schools boasted 5 individual state champions, 8 second place medalists, 7 third place medalists and 1 overall team champion. Congratulations to all of these athletes, coaches and schools!

Winter 2023 Basketball State Medalists Reception

March 24, 2024

We were honored to celebrate the Westbrook Lady Cats girls basketball team, who were state semifinalists at the 2023 State Basketball Tournament. We were also thrilled to honor 4 local officials (L-R: Ronnie Hargis, Winkie James, Cory James and Caleb Smith) who earned the honor of officiating at the state tournament.
