Dan Salkeld
Salkeld was an all-district and all-state athlete while playing football and basketball and running track at Abilene High. He was captain of the 1927 team that was the state runner-up in football. In 1928, also as captain, he led the Warbirds to the state championship. After earning his degree from Texas Christian University, Salkeld had a long and distinguished coaching career in the Texas high school ranks before retiring in 1975. Deceased
