Charles “Nig” Womack
Womack, who was inducted into the Texas High School Basketball Hall of Fame in 2005, coached both boys and girls basketball and served as superintendent at Hawley High School from 1947 to 1979. His boys’ teams had a record of 896-127 and his girls teams had a 674-110 record. His total of 1,570 wins is a national record for combined victories. The Bearcats won 29 district titles and made 10 state tournament appearances under Womack. He also served as President of the Texas Girls Coaches Association in 1956-57. Deceased
