Brad Rowland
Rowland, who played high school football at Hamlin, still holds the career rushing record (4,437 yards) at McMurry, even though it has been more than a half century since his senior season. He led McMurry to three Texas Conference championships and was all-conference all four years. He caught the winning touchdown pass for the West in the 1951 East-West Shrine Game in San Francisco. Rowland was also inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in South Bend, Ind., in 2009. He played one year for the Chicago Bears before going into the service.
