Sammy Baugh
Baugh graduated from high school in Sweetwater and college at TCU, where he played in the first Cotton Bowl. Baugh was an inaugural inductee in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1963. He played 16 professional seasons with the Washington Redskins, from 1937-52. He remains the only player to lead the NFL in passing, punting and interceptions in the same season. Baugh still owns a pair of NFL records that will probably never be touched–season punting (51.4 yards) and career punting average (45.1 yards). He later coached at Hardin-Simmons University, the New York Titans and the Houston Oilers. Deceased
